WHY?
Beginning in the mid-1990s, there has been a steady and rapid rise in the expectation of companies to respect human rights as they do business. The expectation is coming from investors, employees, communities, NGOs and governments. The initiative is led by major corporations from around the world including:ABB Group, Cerrejón Coal Company, Flextronics International Limited, General Electric Company, HP, JSL Stainless Limited, Mansour, Novo Nordisk A/S, Royal Dutch Shell plc, Sime Darby, The Coca-Cola Company, Total S.A. and Unilever plc. WHAT?
The core activity of the initiative is to support action-learning activities in relation to concrete human rights issues and core business activities such as Health and Safety, Non-Discrimination, Fair treatment of employees in the workplace, Community relations, Supply Chain Management and Public Policy.
