GBI's Environment Policy

The Global Business Initiative on Human Rights (GBI) seeks to minimise our carbon footprint through a series of measures, such as limiting air travel where feasible, working virtually as frequently as possible, streamlining work practices, and a number of other measures and work processes outlined in our Environment Policy. The nature of our work is such that, as a global organisation, it is sometimes beneficial to carry out our member peer learning and dissemination work on the ground in different parts of the world. This will vary year on year, dependent on work opportunities, the siting of conference by international organisations, and GBI member company wishes as to the location of events.

GBI’s carbon footprint is already very low as a result of policies and practices already in place. Given the annual variations mentioned above, it makes sense to set a carbon reduction target over a period of three years. GBI will seek to reduce our carbon footprint by 5% over the three-year period, starting January 1, 2023. This target covers team members and advisors, when they are travelling on GBI business. GBI does not report or speak on behalf of our members. Please refer to their individual annual reporting.
